Did you know that, as of this year (2020), it has been 22 years since my first stroke? Geez, it's been nearly 20 years since my second stroke! And as hard as that is for me to believe, there is a lot that I have learned in that time and a lot that I have taken away.

For example, one of the first things that taught me after my first stroke was regarding stairs - always step up with your good foot, and step down with the bad". This stabilizes your balance and helps you accomplish the steps without tipping over.

Sound simple? It's actually a lot harder to remember all the time than you might think it is! But I got used to it, and that one trick alone has helped me to safely accomplish stairs for years and years now.

The thing that I like about the fact that we are now living in the 21st century is that technology and information are at our fingertips, whereas when I was first diagnosed, there was a lot less availability of it. Great example: check out this website! It shares a few tips for stroke survivors that apparently not all of them know...

I know that it has been a LONG time since I last updated anything, but life got crazy. Breaking my affected leg last year set me back about 8 weeks, and pushed my graduation from the spring of last year to the fall. But now that has been accomplished and I am a certified Holistic Nutritionist. Amazing!

I promise to do a full update sometime soon, but right now I have things to do. Happy Monday!
