Get ready... it's coming! The "Stroke of Power Survivors Club" is starting soon!

November 17, 2019
Wow, its bee a while since I updated! Big news today though...

This coming Tuesday, I am going to be the keynote speaker at a lunch & learn, talking about stroke recovery and nutrition... It's at Mind Forward in Mississauga, so if you can make it out, please feel free!

After that, at the beginning of this coming December, I am getting ready to launch my Stroke of Power Survivor's Club! This will be a group of stroke survivors, their caregivers and their families, who are looking for those connections that are so essential to healing and the information that will help them get from where they are to a higher state of functioning. Stay tuned, details coming soon!

Other than that, we are just trying to secure a few fundraising events for the Christmas break. Not much else to report!

It's Christmas bazaar time again!

November 4, 2017
The Special AVM Research & Awareness Fund will be fundraising at the Christmas Bazaar at Viva Retirement Residence in Mississauga (5575 Bonnie St, Mississauga, ON) on Sunday November 5th between 11am and 4pm! Come on out and browse the show, shop for Christmas gifts/decorations/more, and check out our fundraising table... we will be there with our Kneeded Angels, as well as a variety of warm and fuzzy (and homemade!) hat and scarf sets.

ALL proceeds go to The Hospital For Sick Children in Tor...

Finally had a chance to drop off the cheque!

January 14, 2017
Well, it's a few weeks later than I would have liked to give in the fundraising cheque for 2016, but at least I finally had the chance to head down to Toronto to drop it off at the Sick Kids Foundation office today!

Not for much this year, but every little bit helps because it all adds up! (And isn't the little guy in the picture behind us adorable?)

So for 2017, I am planning a few things that I hope I can pull off (on top of school and friends/family and life and all that other fun stuff)......

Fundraising weekend

November 18, 2016
It may have been a while since I last remembered to post about an event that I have run, but that doesn't mean that they haven't been happening!! I have just gotten super busy with school, still working as blogger, writing my cookbook, and everything else that life seems to think needs to happen.

However, this weekend, my mom and I are teaming up to run a booth at a small event in Mississauga. So I am looking forward to that (and I will be doing my homework at the booth most likely hehehehe......

Upcoming events

September 1, 2015
It sure has been a while since anything has gone on with us here at AVM Foundation headquarters... but all that may change come fall. I am hoping to team up with some local bands and hold a few small benefit concert-type things. (If you have a band and want to chat about this, give me a hollar! Email AVM_Foundation@hotmail.com for more details.)

In other news, I decided to enter a weight lifting competition! It will be very low-level, but I figure that I have something to prove (plus, my worko...

It's already winter??

December 21, 2013
My goodness, where did the last half of this year go??  Time has flown since the summer and planning for The SHINE! Festival was in full swing.  The festival itself turned out great - amazing music, played to an amazing crowd.  Plans for what we do different next year are being discussed, and other then that, it's safe to say that SHINE! is on hold for the holidays  :)

On an awesome note - today, one of my incredibly amazing volunteers from SHINE! came with me out to the Sick Kids Foundati...

Planning for The SHINE! Festival is in full swing

June 12, 2013
Have you ever worked as part of a team that plans events like concerts?  This is like nothing that I have EVER done before!!  So I am kind of making this up as I go... but it seems to be working so far!

We have bands!!!  This is the line-up so far:
  • 4pm: Rebekah Stevens
  • 5pm: J'aime Paine
  • 6pm: Colin James Clark
  • 7pm: Barry Szeto
  • 8pm: J'ai
So things look pretty great, entertainment-wise!  Tomorrow's missions include talking to The Oakville Centre staff to see if they have someone who can run the...

IT IS HAPPENING!!!  On Saturday August 17th, 2013, the AVM Research & Awareness Fund at The Hospital For Sick Children will take over Coronation Park in Oakville ( http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl ) to help spread some sunshine.

The SHINE! Festival is a celebration of life and living it.  We want to have live music playing on the stage at the west end of the park from 3:00pm until 10:00pm.  (For this though, we will need bands... if you have one and are interested, please contact me...

Working on putting together something HUGE!

February 23, 2013
The AVM Foundation and Veronica have teamed up with one of her friends from college, and together we are working on getting together a benefit concert for this coming summer.  We are still waiting to hear back from the city of Oakville regarding if we got the stage at Coronation Park for the date that we want, but our fingers are crossed!

That being said, we are looking for bands and musicians that would be interested in helping out a great cause and joining in a day of fun!  If you are ...
